ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Client is seeking a Business Analyst who can serve as the critical link between customer needs and software development. This role is focused on understanding how users interact with the system, identifying opportunities for improvement, and translating those insights into clear, actionable designs that guide development teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate business needs into clear, well-structured requirements that guide development
- Define feature functionality from both user experience and system behavior perspectives
- Evaluate and balance customer requests with system capabilities and long-term product strategy
- Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to understand business processes, challenges, and objectives
- Analyze user interactions to identify inefficiencies, friction points, and opportunities for improvement
- Ask insightful, probing questions to uncover root causes and edge cases beyond initial requests
- Develop functional designs that connect product vision with technical execution
- Document workflows, edge cases, and expected system behaviors with clarity and precision
- Create wireframes, mockups, and process diagrams to support solution design
- Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure requirements are complete, accurate, and actionable
- Break down complex features into manageable user stories or work items
- Provide ongoing clarification and support to developers throughout the development lifecycle
- Validate that delivered solutions meet intended functionality and deliver a strong user experience
- Work with QA to establish clear acceptance criteria and comprehensive test scenarios
- Gather user and stakeholder feedback to continuously refine and improve solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand complex systems and workflows
- Experience working directly with customers or end users
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical teams
- Ability to clearly define solutions without requiring deep technical expertise
- Strong ability to articulate detailed specifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in payroll, HR, or benefits systems
- Experience working within a software development environment
- Familiarity with Agile or similar development methodologies
- Experience creating functional designs
- Experience developing process flows
- Experience producing wireframes or mockups
- Developers receive clear, actionable requirements with minimal ambiguity
- Customers feel their needs are well understood and accurately translated into solutions
- Features are well defined and thought out prior to development
- Reduced back-and-forth and rework during the development lifecycle
