Position Overview
The State of South Carolina is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst - Advanced to serve as a Power BI and Business Intelligence expert for the CHEMIS 2.0 Database Migration Project. This critical role involves the implementation and "go-live" phase of a new application, focusing heavily on data visualization and complex reporting.
You will work independently under the direction of the Information Technology leadership to design, maintain, and support highly complex data visualizations that support agency-wide technical standards and business operations.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities
- Data Visualization: Design, monitor, and maintain complex Power BI reports, dashboards, and paginated reports to increase data accessibility.
- System Implementation: Assist in the launch of the CHEMIS 2.0 system and the migration of legacy databases.
- Technical Analysis: Evaluate and normalize data sources, analyze database efficiency via diagnostics, and develop integrated data architectures.
- Project Management: Prepare status reports for stakeholders, manage project timelines, and coordinate changes from original specifications.
- Strategic Planning: Consult with IT leadership to provide solutions for routine problems and proactively plan for future data management needs and technological shifts.
- Collaboration: Interface with third-party vendors for system analysis and work across agency offices to ensure a coherent architectural strategy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
- 3+ years of intensive experience with Power BI.
- 2+ years of experience in Project Management.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of Data Privacy and Data Governance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in automated information/communication system design OR 4+ years of related experience substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Residency:Candidate MUST be a current South Carolina resident (No relocation).
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years of experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
- Experience with Change Management and Business Continuity.
- Knowledge of Database Architecture.
Work Schedule & Location
This is a 100% on-site position in Columbia, SC.
- Total Hours: 20 hours per week.
- Monday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Note: Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.).
