Job Description
Responsible for directing and administering the operational efforts of the branch. Ensures that established policies and procedures are followed. Oversees provision of a full range of services to customers and prospective customers. Ensures that customers are promptly and professionally served. Trains, directs, and supervises branch staff. Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and evaluating commercial and consumer loan requests. Meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain loan information and documentation. Assists in collections activities. Serves borrowers and prospective borrowers promptly and professionally. Provides general Bank information and cross sells services. Assists other lending personnel as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least five years of related experience in a financial institution, including commercial lending experience.
- Minimum of two to four years of supervisory experience.
- Experience managing a branch with deposit size of $1 million to $15 million, with supervision responsibility for at least 1–3 branch employees.
- Thorough knowledge of bank services and products.
- Understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with branch functions, policies, and procedures.
- Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, or the ability to obtain such.
- Understanding of financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness.
- Knowledge of bank lending and collections programs, policies, and procedures.
- Involvement in at least one civic or trade organization.
- Customer development (calling) goals met or exceeded.
- Highly trustworthy and security conscious.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interviewing skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Able to use a financial calculator, related computer applications, and business machines.
- Internal Applicants: Must have a performance review score of Contributor or higher.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Additional college coursework in business or finance.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Business, Finance, or related field.
- Supervisory experience beyond the minimum required.
- Familiarity with property management and maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities
1. Effective and Efficient Branch Operations
- Supervise work scheduling and daily workflow.
- Ensure operations comply with Bank policies and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Oversee branch security, including opening/closing procedures and regular testing of security equipment.
- Actively solicit new business and customers.
- Supervise and assist with customer service functions; cross-sell Bank services.
- Maintain proper cash controls and ensure all branch transactions are balanced daily.
- Implement changes to established policies and procedures within the branch.
2. Professional Completion of Commercial Loan Functions
- Interview, take applications, and process preliminary documentation for commercial and consumer loan requests; discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and documentation with customers.
- Analyze, evaluate, and approve loans within assigned limits; prepare submissions for higher approval if needed; identify and resolve credit information issues.
- Conduct property and collateral inspections as assigned.
- Follow up on matured loans.
- Assist in collecting delinquent/problem loans, including completing Loan Watch Reports.
- Keep borrowers informed of Bank loan products, policies, and services.
- Meet with applicants whose loans are denied to explain reasons and alternatives.
- Complete lending functions with proper documentation in accordance with Bank policies and legal requirements.
3. Supervision of Branch Staff
- Provide leadership through effective objective setting and communication.
- Directly supervise all branch personnel, ensuring high-quality work and operational efficiency; assign, direct, coordinate, and review tasks.
- Conduct regular meetings with branch employees for training and updates; discuss areas for improvement and procedural changes.
- Hold weekly meetings with branch management staff to coordinate activities.
- Ensure personnel are well trained in all job phases; complete orientation for new employees; perform cross-training and security training as needed.
- Determine appropriate staffing levels and ensure optimal use of human resources.
- Track individual progress, conduct annual performance appraisals, implement corrective actions, recommend promotions, and provide leadership training.
4. Professional Business Relations with Customers
- Ensure prompt resolution of customer requests and complaints.
- Inform customers of Bank services and policies; counsel customers on financial needs and services.
- Maintain and project the Bank’s quality reputation.
5. Effective Administration of Branch Functions
- Coordinate branch operations with accounting, loan processing, and credit functions.
- Manage and oversee expenses; pursue cost-saving measures.
- Seek ways to improve branch operations, productivity, and goal achievement.
- Prepare periodic branch activity reports and make recommendations for improvements.
- Oversee maintenance and housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, and equipment, including snow and ice removal.
- Ensure adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available.
- Institute prudent safety measures.
- Keep management informed of branch activities, progress, and significant problems; request assistance as needed.
6. Other Duties as Required or Assigned
- Serve as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community.
- Attend required meetings and assigned training sessions; stay current on new operational procedures.
- Fill in and perform duties in branch positions as needed.
- Maintain security responsibilities.
