The credit union operates five full-service branch locations in Grandville, Grayling, Houghton Lake, Roscommon, and Standish, along with an administrative office, delivering high-quality member experience and strong community relationships. SUMMARY: NCACU is seeking a Branch Manager that will provide overall leadership and accountability for directing and administering the day-to-day operational efforts of the Branch. Ensures compliance with all established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining efficient, effective operations. Oversees the delivery of a full range of services to members and prospective members, ensuring a consistently prompt, professional, and high-quality member experience. Leads, trains, directs, and supervises Branch staff, fostering a culture of performance, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient performance of Branch operations:

  • Supervises work scheduling and workflow of daily routine operations.
  • Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures Branch security. Opens and closes the building in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment quarterly.
  • Process Business Loans and miscellaneous tasks for the Lending Center as needed.
  • Supervises and assists with member services functions. Promotes and offers Credit Union services and products.
  • Implement changes, when directed to by a supervisor, to established policy and procedures within the Branch.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining proper cash controls:
  • Ensure that all Branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day.
  • Oversee individual accountability for the handling of cash and assist tellers in resolving balancing problems.
  • Controls and handles daily transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Periodically audits cash in possession of tellers and cash on the premises.

Effectively supervises Branch staff, ensuring optimal performance:

  • Provides leadership through effective goal setting and communication.
  • Directly supervises all Branch personnel. Ensures that high-quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained.
  • Conducts regular meetings with Branch employees to inform and train. Discuss areas needing improvement and changes in procedure.
  • Ensures that personnel are well-trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Oversees the training of new employees in overall Branch procedures. Performs cross-training as necessary. Conduct security training.
  • Assists HR with interviewing, hiring, reviewing, and disciplining staff.
  • Tracks individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least twice annually. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed with assistance from management and HR. Recommend promotions for employees as appropriate.
  • Oversee all paid time off, overtime, and timecards for each Branch employee within CU guidelines. Keeps accurate payroll and attendance records.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members:

  • Ensures that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles members' complaints.
  • Ensures that members are informed of Credit Union services. Counsels members regarding their financial needs and services requested.
  • Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
  • Is a leader in the Branch community by actively participating with service organizations.

Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of Branch functions:

  • Ensures that Branch operations are well coordinated with all departments of the Credit Union.
  • Manages and oversees Branch expenses. Recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Continually seeks ways to improve Branch operations and productivity and to meet established goals.
  • Ensures that proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal.
  • Ensures that adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available for personnel.
  • Institutes prudent safety measures.
  • Keeps management informed of Branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems. Requests assistance when necessary.

Assumes responsibility for related functions as required or assigned:

  • Fills in and performs duties in Branch positions as needed.
  • Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new operational procedures.
  • Register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing system and registry.
  • Obtain Resident Producer license, MI Credit Insurance and financial counseling certification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Additional college coursework in business or finance preferred.
  • Understanding of the Credit Union’s field of membership.
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services and products.
  • Understanding related legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with Branch functions, policies, and procedures
  • Must be able to express written and oral information clearly, concisely and completely to all different levels of organization with proper spelling, composition and grammar.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills and to use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, email, and internet
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Related experience in a financial institution preferred, with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
