Job Details
Our firm is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to manage the firm’s day-to-day financial operations. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting case-related accounting, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Manage client trust accounts (IOLTA) in compliance with New York legal accounting rules
- Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
- Assist with payroll processing and employee expense tracking
- Prepare monthly financial reports for partners
- Coordinate with external accountants for tax preparation and audits
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping for case settlements and disbursements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience (law firm experience required)
- Experience with personal injury or contingency-based accounting is required
- Knowledge of trust accounting and legal compliance requirements
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
