Job Details
The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and inspection of high‑pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. This role ensures compliance with Cal/OSHA regulations, local jurisdiction requirements, and internal safety standards while supporting uninterrupted plant or facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor high‑pressure steam boilers and related systems supporting manufacturing operations
Perform boiler startups, shutdowns, load changes, and blowdowns
Monitor pressure, temperature, fuel, combustion, and safety controls
Conduct routine inspections and maintain accurate boiler logs
Perform basic preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs with approved vendors
Test and adjust boiler water chemistry and treatment systems
Respond to alarms, abnormal conditions, and emergency situations
Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA Boiler & Pressure Vessel Safety Orders
Support regulatory, insurance, and safety inspections
Maintain clean, organized, and safe boiler room conditions
Collaborate with maintenance, EHS, and production teams to support uptime
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (required)
2–5+ years of hands‑on boiler operation experience (high‑pressure preferred)
Strong understanding of steam systems, combustion, controls, and safety devices
Ability to read P&IDs, logs, and operating manuals preferred
Valid City of Los Angeles Boiler Operator or Steam Engineer License required
