Billing Specialist

Our Billing Co. is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our team!  

The Billing Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of professional claims to insurance carriers and patients. This role ensures clean claim production, compliance with payer requirements, and optimal reimbursement through proactive claim review and correction. The Billing Specialist serves as a critical link between charge entry, coding, and accounts receivable functions within the Revenue Cycle.

Essential Functions:

• Review and submit electronic and paper claims for assigned providers or specialties
• Validate claim accuracy including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and provider information
• Resolve claim edits and clearinghouse rejections prior to submission
• Correct demographic, authorization, or insurance errors impacting claim submission
• Monitor claim batching and transmission reports daily
• Ensure compliance with payer-specific billing guidelines
• Collaborate with coding and front-end teams to prevent recurring claim errors
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards established by RCM leadership
• Document claim corrections and submission activity within the practice management system

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.

Work Experience

2–3 years of medical billing experience preferred

Experience with claim scrubbing tools and clearinghouse platforms preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier usage
• Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes
• Familiarity with clearinghouse edits and rejection management
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Ability to meet production expectations in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills Effective written and verbal communication skills

Pay range:  $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to market data, education, experience, qualifications, and experience, qualifications, and expertise of the individual and internal equity considerations.
