Overview


The BI Data Analyst performs analysis of structured and unstructured datasets to develop metrics, reports, and visualizations of trends and patterns. Works with technology organization and business end-users to understand data and analysis needs and develops technical requirements. Partners with development and data management roles to identify and capture data required from internal and external sources. Creates and maintains data models for ongoing and ad hoc review and analysis of data. Uses data visualization programs, tools and techniques to generate dashboards, reports and presentations that aid in data storytelling, understanding and interpretation of trends and patterns of business importance. Participates in the Application Development Life Cycle from initial requirements to final implementation. Develops requirements, and defines and implements quality assurance test plans, anddesigns implantation and ongoing support plans.


Responsibilities


+ Analyzes business functions, business applications, and associated data environments.

+ Implements and documents reporting and Business Intelligence solutions for the Enterprise.

+ Writes SQL to satisfy reporting requirements for lists or reports.


Codes and deploys reports to Portals and Dashboards.


+ Defines table relationships and writes Sql from the relationships.

+ Participants in the Application Development Life Cycle from initial requirements to final implementation.

+ Develops requirements, defines and implements quality assurance test plans, and designs implementation and ongoing support plans.


Qualifications


+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.

+ Strong SQL skills with experience in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (2+ years).

+ Python experience for data manipulation, automation, or integration (2+ years).

+ Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and dashboard development.

+ Familiarity with Azure Data Services such as:

+ Azure Synapse Analytics for data warehousing.

+ Azure Data Factory for ETL and data integration.

+ Azure Data Lake for storage and analytics.

+ Azure Analysis Services or Power BI Tabular Models for semantic modeling.

+ Understanding of data modeling principles (Kimball methodology preferred).

+ Experience creating and maintaining semantic models and implementing measures/calculations.

+ Knowledge of data storytelling and translating business requirements into BI solutions.

+ Exposure to data governance tools like Microsoft Purview is a plus.

+ Excellent communication skills for documenting requirements and presenting insights.
