The benefits specialist manages day-to-day benefits administration, compliance support, and benefits reconciliation. This role ensures accurate enrollments, vendor invoicing, and payroll coordination while serving as a key liaison between HR, payroll, and onboarding teams.


Key Responsibilities of Benefits Specialist

  • Benefits Administration
    The benefits specialist handles enrollments, terminations, HSA and 403b account setups, and coverage updates.

  • Compliance Support
    Supports claims, coverage verification, and preparation for annual compliance testing.

  • Benefits Reconciliation
    Reviews and reconciles UMR and BSP invoices, ensuring deductions align with payroll and resolving arrears and refunds.

  • Cross-Functional Communication
    The benefits specialist will partner with campus HR, payroll, and onboarding teams to communicate benefits changes and resolve issues.


Qualifications of Benefits Specialist

Required:

  • Working knowledge of benefits administration (HSA/403b and compliance)

  • The Benefits Specialist must have experience reconciling benefits invoices

  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and confident
