Benefits Analyst III – Retirement Plans

Contract to Hire 

Location: Onsite – Newport Beach, CA

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Benefits Analyst III – Retirement Plans to provide operational, analytical, and compliance support for corporate retirement benefit programs. This role plays a critical part in ensuring retirement plans are administered accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable leading initiatives independently while collaborating with cross-functional partners and external vendors.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead administration and analysis of retirement plans, including 401(k), Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP), and Supplemental Executive Retirement Plans (SERP)

  • Ensure retirement plans operate in compliance with plan documents and all applicable laws and regulations

  • Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance against agreed service levels

  • Forecast retirement plan expenses and track budget vs. actuals as part of the annual budgeting process

  • Oversee ancillary benefits programs, such as financial wellbeing initiatives

  • Support development of employee communications to improve understanding of retirement benefits

  • Manage DCP annual enrollment and annual/ad-hoc nonqualified distributions

  • Complete compliance activities, including annual audits, non-discrimination testing, and required filings (e.g., Form 5500, 8955-SSA)

  • Coordinate retirement plan Investment Committee meetings, including agendas, materials, documentation, and follow-ups

  • Analyze industry trends and business needs to recommend and support plan enhancements

  • Resolve escalated retirement benefits inquiries from employees, retirees, and HR partners

  • Manage actuarial valuation data requests in partnership with Finance and external consultants

  • Support retirement plan corrections as needed

  • Stay current on retirement plan regulations through ongoing research and education

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and additional ad-hoc benefits projects


What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration or related professional experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset

  • Proven experience managing vendors and working with external service providers

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Solid understanding of benefits, HR processes, compliance, and regulatory requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms


Required Skills

  • Workday or comparable HRIS experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency

  • Knowledge of benefits administration, compliance, and HR processes
