Behavioral Health Unit Manager – RN

The Staff Pad is seeking a Behavioral Health Unit Manager to oversee the operations and clinical leadership of an inpatient and community-based behavioral health program. This role works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and staff development. The Unit Manager provides administrative and clinical leadership, ensuring a professional, collaborative, and patient-centered care environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations of the Behavioral Health Unit, including staffing, patient flow, and service delivery

  • Develop and maintain high-quality treatment programs and departmental policies

  • Manage budgeting, strategic planning, and performance improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards

  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise clinical and administrative staff

  • Collaborate with Medical Director and leadership to support organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • BSN required; Post-graduate degree preferred

  • Active RN license in Montana

  • Minimum 5 years of behavioral health leadership or management experience

  • BLS, SECURE (or equivalent), and Mental Health First Aid certifications required

  • Epic experience preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills
