Position Summary

The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading banquet service staff and ensuring the seamless execution of events in accordance with Greensboro Country Club's service standards. This role serves as the on-site service leader during events, coordinating staff, communicating with management, and delivering an exceptional experience for members and guests.

Reports To

  • Banquet Manager

  • Clubhouse Manager


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise banquet service staff during events, including setup, service, and breakdown

  • Act as the primary point of contact on the floor during assigned events

  • Ensure all food and beverage service meets Club standards for quality, presentation, and timing

  • Assign staff positions and responsibilities based on event needs and staffing levels

  • Communicate clearly with the Banquet Manager, Clubhouse Manager, culinary team, and event contacts

  • Monitor event flow and proactively address guest needs or service issues

  • Enforce service procedures, safety standards, and Club policies

  • Train, coach, and support banquet staff to maintain consistent service excellence

  • Maintain a calm, professional presence during fast-paced or high-pressure events

  • Assist with inventory awareness, equipment handling, and proper care of Club property


Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous banquet or hospitality leadership experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team

  • Calm and professional demeanor in fast-paced environments

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to service excellence

  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

  • High School diploma or equivalent


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting

  • Exposure to kitchen and service environments

  • Ability to work extended hours based on event schedules
