Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $80,000 – $90,000 / year + Discretionary Bonus

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy / Litigation Legal Secretary to support a high-performing, sophisticated legal team in Austin. This role will primarily support commercial bankruptcy attorneys handling complex Chapter 9 and Chapter 11 matters, with additional litigation support responsibilities. This is a high-visibility opportunity within a growing office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to bankruptcy and litigation attorneys
- Manage complex attorney calendars, court deadlines, and docketing requirements
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents including motions, pleadings, and orders
- Handle federal and state e-filing (ECF) for bankruptcy and litigation matters
- Coordinate client meetings, court reporters, expert witnesses, and special projects
- Process billing, time entry, expense reports, and client invoicing
- Maintain and organize electronic files using document management systems
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal teams
- Support high-touch commercial bankruptcy matters involving significant financial exposure
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of legal secretary experience in a law firm environment
- Strong commercial bankruptcy experience (Chapter 9 & 11 preferred)
- 2+ years supporting litigation attorneys
- Proficient in federal and state e-filing procedures
- Experience with document management and billing systems (iManage, Aderant, Legal Tracker, or similar)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Typing speed of 65+ WPM
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Professional, team-oriented, and client-focused demeanor
