Overview:

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that work time will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office based in New York.

 

First Citizens Healthcare Finance provides comprehensive financing and banking solutions to middle market healthcare companies across the U.S. Using a client-focused and industry-centric model, Healthcare Finance can tailor its products and services to help clients meet their needs for growth capital.

Responsibilities:
  • The underwriter’s primary role is to lead the process of assessing and approving Healthcare Real Estate and working capital credit facilities which generally include recapitalization and acquisition of skilled nursing and senior housing.
  • The position requires a candidate to have strong credit and collateral analytical skills, who will need to work on several transactions and be able to multi-task.
  • Prepare initial credit approval memoranda including comprehensive financial and business analysis as well as ability to lead due diligence process focused on credit, collateral and government reimbursement / regulatory analysis.
  • Responsible for leading the legal due diligence, loan documentation negotiations as well as closing
  • Interact proactively with Credit Management, Borrowers/Sponsors, Loan Operations, treasury and Closing teams, and collaborate with peers including junior underwriting staff.
Qualifications:

Assistant Vice President - Underwriter

 

Required:

 

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, focused on the assessment of historical financial statements and projections as well as assist with structuring credit facilities. OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis with similar experience and responsibilities.

 

 

Preferred:

 

  • Education: Bachelors in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting
  • Preferred Area of Experience: Finance, Banking
  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in accounting and/or banking; current role in healthcare underwriting or strongly preferred
  • Experience in with assisting the underwriting and closing Healthcare transactions; new construction financings a plus but not required
  • Proficiency Experience with financial, credit and collateral analysis
  • Excellent Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Vice President – Sr Underwriter

 

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, focused on the assessment of historical financial statements and projections as well as assist with structuring credit facilities. OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis with similar experience and responsibilities.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Education: Bachelors in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting
  • Preferred Area of Experience: Finance, Banking
  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in accounting and/or banking; current role in healthcare underwriting strongly preferred
  • Experience with underwriting and closing Healthcare transactions; new construction financings a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in financial, credit and collateral analysis
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Formal bank credit training a plus
  • MBA or equivalent degree a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

 

For the AVP, Underwriter IV - Healthcare the base pay for this position is generally between $130,000.00 and $140,000.00. For the VP, Sr Underwriter - Healthcare the base pay for this position is generally between $150,000.00 and $185,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
