Nucor Corporation is hiring an Automation Technician in Ghent, KY to support industrial automation systems within a steel manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for designing, programming, and troubleshooting automation and electrical systems. If you have an associate’s degree in automation or a related technical discipline, PLC programming experience, industrial network knowledge, and strong electrical troubleshooting skills, then we are interested in you.

Job Requirements:

Associate’s degree in automation or related technical discipline
Industrial network experience
PLC programming experience
Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and following electrical and hydraulic schematics
Experience troubleshooting industrial electric motors
Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in electrical cabinets and peripheral equipment
Strong commitment to initiating, leading, and upholding safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards

Preferred Qualifications:

AutoCAD experience for creating automation drawings
Advanced knowledge of AC, DC, and Servo Drives
Experience designing, servicing, and troubleshooting control systems ranging from electromechanical devices to high-speed production machines and PLCs
Ability to manage automation projects with minimal supervision
3+ years of experience with Siemens PLC systems, including programming, diagnostics, and system integration

Job Duties:

Design, install, program, test, and troubleshoot automation and electrical systems
Support division safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability objectives
Diagnose and resolve automation system issues to minimize downtime
Maintain and improve control systems and industrial machinery
Train teammates on automation systems and equipment
Support continuous improvement initiatives across automation and electrical processes
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety and housekeeping standards
