Nucor Corporation is hiring an Automation Technician in Ghent, KY (Onsite, Full-Time). This role is responsible for designing, programming, installing, and troubleshooting electrical machinery and industrial automation systems to support safety, quality, productivity, and profitability goals. The top three requirements for this position are industrial network experience, PLC programming experience, and an associate’s degree in an automation-related discipline.

Job Requirements:
• Associate’s degree in an automation-related discipline
• Industrial network experience
• Experience in PLC programming
• Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and following electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Experience troubleshooting industrial electric motors
• Ability to diagnose and resolve issues in electrical cabinets and peripheral equipment
• Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies and procedures
• Ability to produce detailed automation drawings using CAD (AutoCAD preferred)
• Advanced understanding of AC, DC, and servo drives preferred
• Ability to design, service, and troubleshoot control systems from electromechanical devices to high-speed production machines and PLCs preferred
• Ability to manage automation projects with minimal supervision preferred
• 3+ years of experience working with Siemens PLC systems, including programming, diagnostics, and system integration preferred
Job Duties:
• Design, install, program, test, and troubleshoot electrical machinery and automation systems
• Support division objectives related to safety, quality, cost, productivity, and profitability
• Develop and modify PLC programs to optimize system performance
• Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems, motors, and control panels
• Interpret and apply electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Create and update automation drawings and system documentation
• Integrate and maintain industrial network systems
• Train team members on automation systems and equipment
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and housekeeping practices
