Summary

The Field Service Technician installs, inspects, and services company equipment, ensuring product performance. This role addresses and resolves product-related questions and problems and conducts training and service programs on the operation and maintenance of products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and start up company-manufactured automatic unloading equipment at customer sites according to specifications and drawings.
  • Monitor the erection and installation of equipment to ensure company guidelines and tolerances are met.
  • Service all company products at customer sites, including testing, troubleshooting, and adjustments as needed.
  • Use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
  • Provide technical support to customers over the phone and via email, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
  • Communicate with company employees regarding product problems to facilitate resolution.
  • Conduct training and service programs on the operation and maintenance of equipment for customer employees.
  • Complete all required records and documentation for customers and the company.
  • Determine the acceptance of equipment installation to activate the warranty.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 to 5 years of technical experience.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Industry-specific certifications are a plus; must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Protective Clothing

The position may occasionally require personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, or work boots.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, customer specifications, warranties, company standards, and operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to travel, including international travel.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics.
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, including a computer, telephone, fax, and copier.
