Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to develop, test, and commission control system applications. The ideal candidate will have recent hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and SCADA systems, as well as a strong ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively. This role involves occasional overnight travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and commission Allen Bradley PLC (ControlLogix and/or PLC-5) control system applications using RSLogix.
  • Develop, test, and commission SCADA (Wonderware and/or iFix) control system applications.
  • Travel overnight (approx. 10%) to customer sites for commissioning, training, validation, and support services.
  • Specify, purchase, and troubleshoot control system hardware and instrumentation, including field and panel-mounted instruments.
  • Read, understand, and develop control system design documents such as Functional Specifications and User Manuals.
  • Review and approve control system design drawings for accuracy and conformance to standards.
  • Be aware of cGMP procedures and practices and their implications on control system development.
  • Set up, configure, and test computers with various hardware and software features included in company control system design.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships, providing excellent service.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC development from scratch, including RSLogix/Studio 5000 and Legacy Allen Bradley systems.
  • Advanced skills in analog data handling, data exchange, and batch sequencing (ISA-S88).
  • Experience with SCADA development, including scripting, security configuration, and database interfacing.
  • Ability to develop control system design documentation, including P&IDs and wiring drawings.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Rockwell Variable Frequency Drives and FactoryTalk View & PanelView.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC TIA Portal/Step 7.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical equipment and validation, including GMP environments and regulated documentation practices.
