FocusPoint is partnering with a nationally recognized professional services firm to identify an accomplished Assurance Partner to help lead and expand its Banking & Financial Services practice. This is a strategic leadership role for a seasoned audit executive who brings deep industry expertise, a strong record of client service, and the ability to drive practice growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity.
Position Overview
The Assurance Partner will serve as a senior leader within the firm's assurance practice, overseeing complex audit engagements, guiding client relationships, and shaping the strategic direction of the banking industry group. This individual will collaborate closely with other partners, mentor high performing teams, and contribute to firmwide initiatives that strengthen service delivery, operational excellence, and market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Engagement Oversight
- Serve as the executive level point of contact for key banking and financial services clients
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex assurance engagements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and industry specific regulatory requirements
- Provide high level technical guidance on emerging accounting standards, risk areas, and regulatory developments affecting financial institutions
- Review and approve financial statements, disclosures, and engagement deliverables
Practice Growth & Market Development
- Lead business development initiatives within the banking and financial services sector
- Expand existing client relationships and cultivate new opportunities
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional associations
- Contribute to thought leadership, including presentations, publications, and internal training
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Mentor, coach, and develop managers, seniors, and staff within the assurance practice
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Participate in recruiting, performance evaluations, and succession planning
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the practice
Operational & Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to firmwide strategic planning and operational initiatives
- Support quality control processes and internal risk management protocols
- Collaborate with cross functional leaders in tax, advisory, and consulting services
- Drive innovation in audit methodology, technology adoption, and client service delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Active CPA license (required)
- 12+ years of progressive public accounting experience, including significant leadership responsibility
- Extensive experience serving banking and/or financial services clients (required)
- Demonstrated expertise in financial institution audits, internal controls, and regulatory frameworks
- Proven ability to lead large engagement teams and manage complex client portfolios
- Strong business development track record with the ability to originate and grow client relationships
- Exceptional communication, executive presence, and relationship building skills
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with community banks, credit unions, fintech lenders, or specialty finance organizations
- Familiarity with FDICIA, SOX, CECL, and other financial sector compliance requirements
- Prior experience in a Partner, Managing Director, or equivalent senior leadership role
- Ability to influence firm strategy and contribute to long term practice growth
