Project Description
The Associate Project Manager I will support C&D Business Unit projects during the Design and Construction phases. The role provides oversight support to ensure projects are managed and delivered consistently. The APM I will assist the Project Management Team (PMT) in ensuring that work plans, specifications, and quality concerns are upheld and that all work complies with contract provisions. Position Details
Title: Associate Project Manager I (APM I)Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
Paid Hours Per Week: 40 hours (lunch is unpaid)
Hours of Work: 7:30 AM 4:30 PM (includes unpaid lunch)
Work Distribution
Technical: 80%Administrative: 20%
Office: 50%
Field: 50% (as required)
Reporting Structure
Reports to: DSO Security and System Safety Certification/Quality Unit Leader or Designee. Education Requirements
One of the following: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of relevant experience.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of project experience.
- One (1) year as a project manager on a large and/or complex construction project.
Licensing Requirements
None required. Desired Skills & Training
- Knowledge of capital construction procedures.
- Familiarity with project delivery methods.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Understanding of NYC Transit operations (preferred, not required).
- Experience in quality management (preferred, not required).
Description of Work
The selected candidate will: - Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters.
- Review submittals, including Quality Work Plans and Quality Management Plans.
- Conduct audits of contractors and PMT roles and responsibilities.
- Perform quality audits during design and construction phases.
- Review material inspection reports for contract compliance.
- Review field inspection reports from the PMT and contractors.
- Identify and manage Non-Compliance Reports.
- Perform root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Develop and review quality procedures.
- Manage the DSO Quality SharePoint database and produce reports as needed.
Other Requirements
- Completion of track safety training for NYC Transit, Metro-North Railroad, or Long Island Railroad, as applicable.
- OSHA 30-hour certification must be completed prior to performing work on or near wayside areas.
- Personal safety boots meeting all applicable requirements must be provided at no cost to the client
