Under the direction of the Vice President or Senior Branch Executive, the Associate Executive Director will directly oversee association wide aquatics programming and operations and day-to-day operations at assigned branch(s) ensure that the quality of all programs and offerings related to swim lessons, lifeguarding and safety are meeting or exceeding industry standards.
The Associate Executive Director leads and develops staff, fosters a culture of collaboration and excellence, and ensures programs meet industry standards and community needs. Responsible for operational excellence, financial stewardship, and program quality, the Associate Executive Director ensures effective use of resources, safe and welcoming environments, and measurable outcomes. This role supports the growth, sustainability, and community impact of the YMCA.

Responsibilities:- Provides leadership and supervision of assigned branch and program staff; recruit, train, develop, and evaluate employees and volunteers.
- Creates a collaborative, high-performing culture that models YMCA values and relationship-building.
- Develops, implements, and oversees high-quality, mission-driven programs to meet YMCA goals community needs.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs in all departments to support the Y mission, goals, and
- Ensures consistent program evaluation, quality improvement, and alignment with YMCA standards.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA within the community and build strong relationships and partnerships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, etc.
- Develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets; ensure fiscal responsibility and achievement of revenue goals.
- Oversee facilities, equipment, and safety standards to ensure high-quality, well-maintained environments.
- Manage resources efficiently to support sustainable operations and program growth.
- Creates experiences that promote member connection, retention, and satisfaction.
- Responds promptly to member feedback, concerns, and inquiries.
- Supports marketing and communication efforts to promote programs, services, and community impact.
- Assists in outreach initiatives that strengthen visibility and participation.
- Ensures adherence to all YMCA policies, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Monitors program effectiveness, track outcomes, and implement continuous improvements.

- Completes additional duties assigned in support of the YMCA mission.
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
- Leadership experience in aquatics operations and programming, including swim lessons, lifeguarding, aquatic fitness, and safety initiatives; multi-site or association-level experience strongly preferred.
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
- YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
- CPO certification within 30 days of hire.
- Lifeguard Trainer certified within 60 days of hire.
- Current CPR/First Aid/O2 certification.
