We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Counsel specializing in Energy and Land Use for our thriving Legal team. This challenging role will require a deep understanding of commercial real estate transactions, due diligence, and drafting easements and ground leases. As an integral member of our team, you will be involved in some of the most exciting and complex legal cases in the energy sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on all matters related to energy projects, land use, and commercial real estate transactions.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence reviews and risk assessments on potential transactions, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including easements, ground leases, purchase agreements, and other related contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement effective legal strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Provide clear, concise, and practical legal advice to stakeholders on a wide range of energy and land use issues.
  • Stay abreast of current trends, legislation, and regulations within the energy sector and advise the organization accordingly.
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings, if necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, external counsel, and business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the TX state bar.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within related practice area with top law firm or inhouse experience.
  • Proven experience in commercial real estate transactions, due diligence, and drafting easements and ground leases.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to resolve complex legal issues effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws related to energy, land use, and real estate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
