We a growing boutique Insurance Defense firm in Woodland Hills looking for an attorney with 3-5 years of Defense Litigation experince. You will work directly with a partner but have a lot of autonomy to run your caseload. Two associates that have started in the last few years have recently been promoted to junior partner.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Attorney to join our team. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to handle challenging, complex legal issues in the areas of trucking, motor vehicle accidents, insurance defense, premises liability, and commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in discovery, depositions, and other key aspects of litigation. This role requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in the legal industry.

Responsibilities:

As an Associate Attorney, your responsibilities will include:

1. Representing clients in court or before government agencies.
2. Presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
3. Interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
4. Conducting legal research and gathering evidence.
5. Preparing and drafting legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
6. Managing and overseeing paralegals and legal assistants.
7. Preparing legal briefs and opinions, and filing appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
8. Advising clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
9. Negotiating settlements of civil disputes.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

1. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admission to the state bar.
3. Minimum 2+ years of experience as an attorney, with a focus on discovery, depositions, trucking, motor vehicle accidents, insurance defense, premises liability, and commercial litigation.
4. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
5. Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
9. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
10. Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office applications.
