Associate Attorney – Defense Litigation
(Casualty, Labor & Employment, and Business Litigation)

Overview
Boutique Los Angeles law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience to support its defense practice, with a focus on casualty, labor & employment, and business litigation matters. This role is ideal for a self-directed attorney who can manage cases with minimal supervision while working closely with partners on strategy and client service.

Responsibilities
Independently manage defense litigation matters from inception through resolution
Draft pleadings, discovery, and substantive law and motion papers
Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts
Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial
Appear in court for hearings and case management conferences
Advise and communicate directly with insurer and business clients
Collaborate with partners on case strategy, evaluation, and trial preparation

Practice Focus
Casualty and general liability defense
Labor & employment defense, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims
Business and commercial disputes, including contract and tort matters

Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school
Active California Bar membership in good standing
Minimum of 5 years of civil defense litigation experience
Strong legal writing and advocacy skills
Proven ability to manage cases independently
Deposition and court appearance experience required
Trial experience preferred but not required
