What You'll Do:

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the assistant Warehouse Manager supports the overall coordination and continuous improvement of the warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, distribution, secured gaming supply handling, and team supervision. Responsible for developing, documenting, and enforcing standard operating procedures; coordinating cross-departmental service delivery; and actively supporting STRC’s ongoing warehouse expansion by contributing to facility layout planning, workflow design, and operational infrastructure buildout. The Assistant Warehouse Manager directs daily work assignments for the warehouse team while partnering with the Purchasing Manager to ensure all operations remain compliant with STRC policies, internal controls, and Spokane Tribal Gaming Commission requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  1. Promote and support a culture of excellence at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino by modeling STRC values, delivering exceptional guest service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
  2. Provide exceptional guest service throughout all interactions.
  3. Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming regulations, internal controls, and departmental policies, including requirements of the Gaming Commission and applicable state and federal authorities.
  4. Direct daily work assignments for warehouse team members; provide hands-on coaching, performance feedback, and training to ensure operational standards, service levels, and departmental expectations are consistently met. Recommend employment actions, corrective measures, and scheduling adjustments to the Purchasing Manager as warranted.
  5. Lead the development, documentation, revision, and implementation of warehouse standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal control procedures covering receiving, storage, distribution, inventory management, and secured supply handling; ensure all SOPs are aligned with STRC internal controls and STGC compliance requirements and are applied consistently across the team.
  6. Actively support STRC’s warehouse expansion initiative, including participation in facility layout planning, storage racking and zoning configuration, equipment procurement planning, workflow design, and transition management.
  7. Oversee the full receiving workflow: verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and invoices; direct inspection and count of all items; document discrepancies, shortages, and damage; coordinate resolution with vendors, the Purchasing Manager, and Finance; and ensure timely and accurate data entry into the warehouse management system.
  8. Manage inventory control programs, including FIFO/FEFO compliance, cycle counts, periodic physical inventories, and month-end reconciliation; analyze variance reports, identify root causes of discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions to the Purchasing Manager.
  9. Receive, log, and maintain chain-of-custody records for all secured items, including Gaming Supplies, in strict accordance with STRC policies, internal controls, and STGC requirements; ensure team adherence to all controlled inventory handling protocols without exception.
  10. Coordinate the timely and accurate distribution of all items throughout the property, including food & beverage products received and stored in compliance with applicable temperature control, food safety, and quality standards; maintain appropriate stock levels and service level agreements with operating departments.
  11. Establish and maintain an organized, safe, and efficient warehouse environment; develop and enforce space utilization standards, housekeeping expectations, traffic flow protocols, and equipment maintenance practices; ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA and property safety standards.
  12. Support vendor relations and purchasing operations by coordinating with the Purchasing Manager on purchase order execution, delivery scheduling, and vendor performance issues; provide operational data and feedback to inform procurement decisions.
  13. Demonstrate dependability and reliability by maintaining regular, punctual attendance and consistently fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities.
  14. Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment; promote healthy team member relations and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:

Education & Experience

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • College degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of progressively responsible experience, training, and education may be considered. Minimum three (3) years of progressive warehouse, receiving, or materials management experience required, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or implementing warehouse SOPs, operational procedures, or compliance documentation preferred.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems required; experience with Stratton Warren preferred.
  • Willing and available to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Valid state-issued driver's license and DMV record required; valid forklift certification required, or ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, team members, and external contacts. Read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality, particularly when handling secured gaming supplies and sensitive inventory data.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and productive demeanor.
  • Move efficiently throughout the work area, including the warehouse floor, receiving dock, storage areas, and all casino departments.
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management techniques, FIFO/FEFO practices, and receiving best practices applicable to a hospitality or casino environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with warehouse setup, reorganization, or expansion, including facility zoning, racking systems, workflow design, and space utilization optimization strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software; demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and generate actionable solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to apply process improvement and lean management principles to warehouse operations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to direct team members and collaborate effectively across departments with varying priorities and timelines.
Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities:

Obtain and maintain a valid gaming license, a driver's license, and applicable equipment certifications.
