Job Summary:


The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an Assistant Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations – Professional Billing. The Assistant Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations – Professional Billing oversees the full professional revenue cycle to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant billing, coding, and collections. This role drives strategic improvements that optimize reimbursement, reduce cost to collect, and enhance both provider and patient financial experiences. The Assistant Vice President partners with clinical, financial, and operational leaders to implement best practices, leverage technology, and deliver strong performance across key revenue cycle metrics.

Shift: First Shift - Remote


Role Accountabilities:


+ Lead and optimize the end-to-end professional revenue cycle, including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, and collections.

+ Develop and implement strategies that improve cash flow, reduce denials, and ensure timely, accurate reimbursement.

+ Monitor and manage KPIs such as AR days, clean claim rate, denial rate, and cost‑to‑collect to achieve organizational performance goals.

+ Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, payer rules, billing guidelines, and clinical documentation standards.

+ Drive process improvement and standardization across departments using data analytics, automation, and best practices.

+ Collaborate with physician, clinical, finance, and IT stakeholders to resolve revenue cycle issues and support strategic initiatives.

+ Oversee revenue integrity, audits, and risk mitigation activities to ensure accurate coding, documentation, and charge capture.

+ Lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing teams to foster operational excellence and a strong patient financial experience.

+ Direct and oversee provider enrollment functions, ensuring timely payer enrollment, revalidation, and maintenance of provider participation status.


Qualifications – External:


+ Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of experience.


Preferred Qualifications:


+ Strong EPIC background on the professional billing side strongly preferred.

+ Operations experience is strongly preferred.

+ Provider enrollment experience preferred.

+ Leadership experience preferred.

+ Epic certifications are strongly preferred.

+ Coding certifications are strongly preferred.

+ Academic Medical Center experience strongly preferred.
