About the Opportunity

CornerStone Professional Placement is partnering with a highly respected, values-driven financial institution seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Banking and Growth Strategy. This executive role reports directly to the COO and plays a critical role in shaping enterprise strategy, driving sustainable growth, and ensuring the organization scales without sacrificing culture, member experience, or core values.

Core values are a key driver in every hiring decision. This organization looks for leaders who live those values daily—through servant leadership, accountability, trust, and integrity.

What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to define and execute enterprise strategy aligned with long-term growth and scalability.
  • Translate strategy into disciplined execution across talent, operations, technology, and culture.
  • Balance near-term performance with long-term organizational health and member impact.
  • Lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen competitive positioning.

Member Engagement & Experience

  • Champion a member-first culture that consistently delivers exceptional service and financial wellness.
  • Develop strategies to attract, retain, and deepen member relationships through products, services, and digital channels.
  • Leverage data, technology, and member insights to create differentiated, scalable experiences.

Financial Leadership

  • Oversee financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, diversification, and prudent risk management.
  • Ensure financial discipline while enabling smart investment in innovation and future capabilities.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing executive and senior leadership team.
  • Build succession pipelines and strengthen enterprise leadership capability.
  • Lead through servant leadership, trust, candor, and accountability—never command-and-control.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive culture reflective of the communities served.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish enterprise-wide execution discipline that enables consistency, quality, and scalability.
  • Align governance, decision rights, and performance management to avoid silos and friction.
  • Drive continuous improvement using data, technology, and employee insights.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk

  • Maintain strong regulatory discipline as the foundation for sustainable growth.
  • Ensure compliance with NCUA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Partner effectively with regulators and external stakeholders.

Community & Industry Leadership

  • Serve as a visible, credible leader in the community and financial services industry.
  • Build strategic relationships through board participation, partnerships, and community engagement that support long-term growth and trust.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field (required)
  • Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in a credit union or financial institution
  • 10+ years of progressive management and executive leadership experience
  • Proven success driving growth, operational excellence, and financial performance
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management, and industry trends
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making ability
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEI and ethical leadership
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license (MVR screening required)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Values-led executive culture
  • Healthy, sustainable work hours (40–45/week)
  • Flexibility when life happens
  • Strategic influence at the enterprise level
  • Strong compensation and bonus structure
  • Meaningful community and member impact

If you are an executive leader who believes how results are achieved matters just as much as the results themselves, this is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact.
