ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS (Assistant Project Manager):

  • Leadership

Expectedtoprovideleadership inthis roleonrelativelysmallprojects(this roleis expected tobeonanas needed, non-full-time basis).

ProvidesleadershipfortheProjectTeam(maybemulti-disciplineengineering and designteam)whichisdescribedastimelydecision-making, inspirationalpresence, personal andteam level accountabilityandresponsibility, integrity,effective maintenanceofopenandforthrightcommunicationswithothers,and transparency of motivation and action.

Workswiththecompany President/VPofEngineeringandProject Managers(as needed)toestablishcleargoalsanddirectionvisionforprojects andprojectteam members.Hasdemonstrated andcontinuestoprogressindemonstratingself-confident,competent,assertive,anddecisive behavioral traits.

Beginstounderstandtheimportanceofresolvingteamconflicts ina straightforward,positiveandprofessionalmanneranddemonstratesanincreasing level of competencein doing so.

Rolemodelscollaborativeleadershipbybuildingstrongandproductive relationshipswithprojectmanagerstoensuretheoverallsuccessofthe organization.

  • Project Management

Possessesanddemonstratesabasiccompetenceinthegeneralprinciplesofproject management,includingprojectscoping/initiation,projectbudgetdevelopment. projectplanningandscheduling, projectcontrols,project execution,andproject close-out.

Abletodevelop simplified,clearworkplanscoveringmulti-disciplinescopesofwork

forrelativelysmallsizedengineeringprojects forreview bytheDirector ofProject Management.Implementsand reviewsworkplanswithprojectteam,ensuringthe Teamhas aclear scope andplan.Manages project scope change,tracks and updatesprojectprogress,controlsprojectprogressandexecutesproject requirementsadjusting as necessarythroughoutproject’sduration toachieve schedule and budgetarygoals.

Manageprojectschedulesusingadeliverables-basedapproach.

Workswith and collaborateswith leaddisciplineengineerstorequestresourcesand resolve schedule constraints.

Expected to be able to manage smaller projects independently with required support and interaction from senior leadership to help ensure success.

May be assigned to a large project to assist the project manager with the responsibility associated with the larger project and for a learning experience.

Works with and learns from senior leadership to become more proficient in the Project Management role.

Aspires to become a Project Manager as this role is intended for individuals that desire to pursue that professional development track/role.

Exhibitsabasicunderstandingofmulti-disciplinetechnicalknowledgealongwith thewillingnesstoengagewiththeengineersanddesignersworkingonprojectsto steerprojects technically andensure timely technical decision-making.

Abletoweigh theprosandconsofvarioustechnicaldecisionpointsinamulti-discipline environmentandimplementdecisionsbasedonsame.Solicitsinput and guidancefromLDE’s,disciplinedepartmentmanagersand/or ProjectManagersto maturetheirmulti-disciplineknowledgeandtobetterunderstandthetechnical implicationsoftheir decision making.

Ensuresefficientcoordination ofallengineeringdisciplinesonaproject.Ableto informtheclientregardingkeytechnicalelements ofprojects,andimplicationsof client goalsandthought processesonoverallprojectcost,schedule,andcomplexity.

Canbeexpectedtoperforminatechnicalrole(inadditiontoamanagementrole) onthesameprojectthat theyaremanaging.

  • Software Utilization

Familiarwiththeproperuseofprojectmanagementsoftwaretools.Exhibits proficiencyintheuse of general office softwarepackages.

Possessesabasicunderstandingofthelimitationsandcapabilitiesofthesoftware packagesutilizedbyengineersanddesignerswithintheProjectTeam.

  • Standards and Procedures

Isresponsible for learningandunderstandingproject managementstandards as well asensuringthatcorporatestandardsandproceduresare implementedin the execution ofprojects.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Education,BSinrelatedEngineeringfield
  • Must have demonstrated satisfactory performance in the roll of Staff Level II engineer for at least 5 years (not required but ideal) or higher levels of technical role responsibility (or equivalent)
  • Must have demonstratedstrong interpersonalskillsandtechnicalcompetencyin a multi-disciplineproject environment
