Individuals passionate about teaching and committed to shaping the next generation of project management professionals are encouraged to apply for this tenure track Assistant Professor position. This role offers the opportunity to build a rewarding academic career while providing vital leadership to a Project Management Program composed of full-time and adjunct instructors.

Primary Faculty Responsibilities

This position is primarily focused on faculty instruction, with a direct and lasting impact on student learning and success. Responsibilities include:

• Teaching a dynamic range of undergraduate project management courses, ensuring a strong connection between academic theory and real-world professional practice.
• Mentoring and inspiring students in the classroom, fostering critical thinking, ethical practice, and leadership skills.
• Collaborating with advising staff and faculty colleagues on student success initiatives, curriculum enhancement, and pedagogical innovation.
• Serving as a visible and engaged ambassador for the program, promoting its strengths to prospective students and the broader community.

Secondary Program Leadership Duties

In addition to core teaching responsibilities, this position serves as Program Director. These duties are essential to the program’s strategic success and academic quality, and include:

• Strategic Oversight: Managing operational aspects of the PMI-accredited Project Management Program, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and budget oversight.
• Accreditation and Compliance: Leading the PMI reaccreditation process to ensure continued compliance and successful renewal.
• External Relations: Cultivating partnerships with local employers and leading the program’s advisory board to maintain curriculum relevance and expand student career opportunities.

This dual role provides a meaningful opportunity to contribute to both the academic and applied dimensions of project management, supporting student success while guiding the program’s future direction.

This position reports to the Dean for Business and Computer Science.

The salary range for this position is $80,024.00 - $84,074.00 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter, and spring quarters. This position is in a hard-to-fill discipline eligible for additional money per MOU 002 – Hard to Fill Supplemental Pay and would receive an additional stipend. This is not a guarantee of compensation and is subject to funding.

Relocation expenses are included in the employment offer for candidates relocating to the Tri-Cities area from outside a 175-mile radius.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or related STEM discipline from an institutionally accredited college or university;
• Three (3) years of industry management and leadership experience;
• Five (5) years of project management work experience;
• Two (2) years managing significant projects from initiation through closure;
• Active Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or commitment to obtain certification within 1 year of hire;
• Experience with project management and other collaborative workflow software applications, including Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office Suite;
• Experience creating and delivering project management content in a learning environment; and
• Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment, with a focus on supporting the academic success of Hispanic and other underserved populations. Experience incorporating inclusive pedagogy and addressing challenges unique to these populations, informed by both personal and professional insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering, or related STEM discipline from an institutionally accredited college or university;
• Experience teaching at a community college and/or the freshman and sophomore levels;
• Experience with eLearning methodologies, including web-enhanced, blended, and/or hybrid instruction; and
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
