Its multidisciplinary,entrepreneurial approach to engineering education immerses undergraduate,master’s, and doctoral students in meaningful research investigationsthroughout their studies.

As part of the VCU AI+ Cluster Hire inArtificial Intelligence for Public Good, the Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) at VCU invites applicationsfrom qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professorlevel to begin in the Fall 2026.  BiomedicalEngineering at Virginia Commonwealth University offers the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D.degrees and collaborates closely with clinicians and biomedical scientists onthe VCU Medical Center in downtown Richmond, Virginia. There are presently 18 facultyin the Department. 

Position: 

 Candidates should possess a sincere desire to engage in research that makes a positive difference in our community and human kind utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Clinical and Translational Research. The department is especially interested in candidates able to work with collaborators in the Division of Cardiology in the VCU Department of Internal Medicine and the Pauley Heart Center. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate core courses and develop new courses in these areas is also highly desirable. 

Qualifications:

Faculty candidates should have a Ph.D. inBiomedical Engineering or a related discipline and are expected to teachcourses in the program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.Successful candidates will be expected to secure extramural funding and developa research program that expands and complements existing expertise in the BiomedicalEngineering Department and the Department of Internal Medicine.  Demonstratedexperience working in and fostering an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to doso as a faculty member at VCU.   Candidates must desire to actively participate in creatingand nurturing a highly collaborative, creative, innovative, and entrepreneurialculture.
