Assistant Nurse Manager, Utilization Management

HCT seeks an experienced nursing professional to serve as the Interim Assistant Nurse Manager of Utilization Management for a 575+ bed hospital in California. The responsibilities include:

• Focus on the primary goal which is to reduce outside utilization and lower outside patient days while improving throughput. 
• As an individual contributor, partner closely with regional team to facilitate timely discharge and disposition of complex patients in non-system hospitals.
• Serve as the local point of contact, enhancing real-time coordination between Region, Utilization Management, bed flow, and hospital operations. 
• Proactively identify barriers to discharge, aligning stakeholders, and ensure appropriate escalation of high-risk or high-visibility cases. 

Requirements:

• Education: BSN required
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, minimum of 2 years of utilization or care management experience in an acute care hospital setting, and minimum of 2 years leadership experience. Strong understanding of appeal/grievance processes and regulations (i.e. Medicare rules, etc.).
• License: CA RN required
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS through AHA (required prior to start date)
• EMR: Cerner, strong Excel skills required
