Now Hiring: Assistant Manager – Direct Support Services
Location: West Akron/ Copley, Ohio
Are you an experienced DSP who’s ready to step into leadership? Do you have a heart for people and the ability to lead, train, and hold a team accountable? We are looking for a strong, compassionate Assistant Manager to help oversee operations and support individuals with developmental disabilities while guiding DSP staff. This role does require a clean driving record and a minimum of 6 years of driving experience to be insurable on the commercial insurance policy. Working very other weekend is required.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is not afraid to work, coach, and lead by example.
What You’ll Do:
As an Assistant Manager, you will:
Provide direct care when needed (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, transfers, mobility)
Administer and oversee medications (experience required)
Assist individuals with bowel and catheter routines
Supervise, mentor, and support DSP staff during shift
Ensure proper documentation, medication counts, and compliance
Help with staff scheduling, coverage, and call-offs
Monitor health, safety, and overall well-being of individuals
Coordinate transportation to appointments and community outings
Ensure the home is clean, safe, and running smoothly
Step in during emergencies and support crisis intervention
Communicate professionally with management, families, and care teams
What We’re Looking For:
Strong DSP background with medication administration experience
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Comfortable with hands-on personal care including toileting
Valid Ohio Driver’s License (no more than 1 point)
Physically able to assist with transfers and lift up to 25+ lbs
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Reliable, firm, compassionate, and able to hold staff accountable
Available for second shift weekdays and every other weekend
