Are you a skilled building engineer with a passion for excellence and a commitment to top-tier service? Our prestigious luxury apartment cooperative, led by a Board of Directors, is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Building Engineer to support our residents and ensure the smooth operation of our building systems.We are a high-rise apartment building looking for an Assistant Building Engineer who has at least 5 years of engineering experience. The Assistant Building Engineer assists the Chief Engineer in monitoring the building systems operations and performance. The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of building operating systems, to include air handler units, centrifugal chiller, cooling towers, energy management system, hot water boilers, water treatment system, and a variety of auxiliary equipment. The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals is required. The candidate should also have the ability to utilize several trade skills such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, heating & cooling. A current CFC Certification is required. A DC 3rd Class Engineer License is desired.

What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and repair building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry.
- Support the Chief Engineer and respond promptly to resident service requests.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting for optimal system performance.
- Review and interpret safety rules, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and O&M manuals.
- Participate in a rotating 24-hour On-Call schedule.
- Use building automation systems, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other tools to manage tasks and records.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years’ experience in luxury apartment or condominium maintenance.
- 5+ years’ trade experience (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or Welding).
- Thorough knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Fluent in English (both written & spoken).
- Able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 75 lbs repetitively.
- Excellent customer service & communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers: Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Building Automation Systems.
- DC 6th Class Stationary Steam Engineer’s License preferred (not required
