The Convenience Store Assistant Kitchen Manager’s responsibilities involve supervision of kitchen staff through oversight of day-to-day operations of the kitchen to ensure the execution of all employee duties. This position also monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policy, cleanliness and organization, maintenance of inventory and equipment, and other duties as assigned by management. The ideal candidate will have the experience and ability to maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily supervision and training of C-store kitchen staff.
Monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and fire department regulations. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local food handling requirements and standards.
Oversees daily food preparation process, including cooking, assembly and plating. Completes duties of line cook when needed, and is capable of performing duties of all kitchen positions.
Manage food inventory and ensure products are stored at correct temperatures for quality control. Follows procedures to prevent cross contamination, timely use of perishables and limitation of food waste.
Address customer concerns related to food quality and service.
Enforces proper cleaning procedures and protocols to ensure a sanitary and organized kitchen and workspace.
Performs other duties as requested by the Kitchen Manager, Operations Manager or Store Manager as needed for the success of the department.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
Proven experience in a kitchen management role, preferably within a convenience store setting
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Education and Experience.
Associates degree in kitchen management, culinary arts or related field and two (2) year's experience working in a comparable position is preferred. Two (2) years of supervisory experience; or any related combination of education, training and experience. Must have or be able to obtain Safe Serve certification.
