Food and Beverage Assistant Manager
Overview:
The Food and Beverage Assistant Manager plays a supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the club s food and beverage services. This position typically reports to the Food and Beverage Manager or Director and is responsible for ensuring high-quality service and operational efficiency in various food and beverage areas, including restaurants, bars, lounges, banquet halls, and event catering. The Assistant Manager often oversees staff, helps manage operations, and directly interacts with club members and guests to ensure satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support:
- Assist the Food and Beverage Manager in overseeing the daily operations of all food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, bars, and event spaces.
- Supervise daily service, ensuring that all food and beverage items are served according to club standards.
- Help ensure smooth and efficient operations, particularly during peak hours, special events, or busy weekends.
- Ensure proper setup, presentation, and service for all food and beverage functions.
Staff Supervision and Training:
- Supervise, train, and motivate food and beverage staff, including servers, bartenders, and kitchen personnel.
- Ensure staff is trained on club procedures, customer service standards, food safety practices, and health regulations.
- Assist with scheduling staff to ensure proper coverage, particularly during busy events or weekends.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve service quality.
Customer Service:
- Directly engage with club members and guests, addressing their dining preferences, concerns, and special requests.
- Ensure that members receive personalized service, responding to complaints or issues quickly and professionally.
- Ensure a high level of satisfaction among members by maintaining service quality and resolving any issues that arise.
Menu and Event Support:
- Assist with menu planning and updates in collaboration with the executive chef or culinary team, ensuring that offerings reflect seasonal ingredients and members' preferences.
- Help with planning and executing special events, banquets, golf outings, or member gatherings, ensuring that all food and beverage aspects are aligned with event specifications.
- Support with event coordination, including menu selection, timing, and staff management.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Assist in managing inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies, ensuring stock is well-maintained and costs are kept within budget.
- Monitor and report on food and beverage usage, identifying areas of waste and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Help track and report financial performance, including sales, expenses, and budget adherence.
Health, Safety, and Hygiene Compliance:
- Ensure that the kitchen, dining areas, and bars comply with local health and safety regulations and the country club s hygiene standards.
- Monitor cleanliness and sanitation efforts, ensuring staff follows proper food safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of food handling practices, storage conditions, and cleaning procedures.
Member Engagement and Feedback:
- Regularly engage with club members to solicit feedback on food, service, and overall dining experience.
- Ensure that the club s food and beverage offerings meet the expectations of members, providing a personalized experience tailored to their tastes.
- Organize or participate in member events, such as wine tastings, themed dinners, or exclusive dining experiences.
Education & Experience:
- Education: A degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Several years of experience in food and beverage management, often at managerial or operational roles. Prior experience in hotel or large-scale restaurant operations is common.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Leadership and Communication: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with a diverse team of staff, members, and vendors.
- Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact with club members and guests, ensuring they feel valued and well-served.
- Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, staff, and operations efficiently, especially during busy periods.
- Financial Acumen: Strong budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis skills to meet profit and loss targets.
- Knowledge of Food and Beverage: In-depth knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and menu development, as well as familiarity with high-end dining expectations.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle challenges or complaints quickly, creatively, and diplomatically.
Language:
Required to speak, read, write English, and do basic mathematics. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.
