About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support our Finance & Administration department. This role works closely with the Finance Controller and plays a key part in financial reporting, month-end close, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to manage complex financial processes with accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities

- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and prepare financial statements

- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies

- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

- Oversee AP/AR processes and ensure accuracy of sub-ledgers

- Support external audits and coordinate with auditors

- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and documentation

- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management

- Assist with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements

- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed

Qualifications

- Active CPA license is preferred but not required

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls

- Experience with month-end close and financial reporting

- Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

- Experience in a manufacturing or Japanese company environment

- Knowledge of cost accounting or inventory accounting

- Experience with process improvement and automation
