The Assistant Director supports the Director in the daily operations of the childcare facility and school, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves staff supervision, compliance with regulatory requirements, curriculum support, and family engagement. The Assistant Director also acts as the Director’s representative in their absence.

Compensation:

$60,000

Responsibilities:

Operations & Compliance

  • Assist in managing daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and classroom coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and center policies.
  • Maintain accurate records for enrollment, attendance, incidents, and staff training.
  • Help prepare for inspections and audits.

Staff Support & Development

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to teachers and support staff.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff.
  • Support performance evaluations and professional development planning.

Curriculum & Program Quality

  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure age-appropriate curriculum and activities are implemented.
  • Monitor classrooms for quality learning environments and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Organize special events, parent programs, and enrichment activities.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Greet and communicate with families in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Address parent questions and concerns promptly and constructively.
  • Help build partnerships with local organizations and resources.

Leadership & Administration

  • Serve as acting Director when needed, making decisions to maintain quality operations.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing supplies, and managing resources efficiently.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to long-term center planning.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred).
  • State-required Director or Assistant Director credential (varies by state).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in an early childhood education setting, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
