Assistant Controller
A privately held, multi‑location organization is seeking an Assistant Controller to support corporate accounting operations. This role reports to the Controller and is responsible for financial close, reporting, controls, and business segment support.
- Lead monthly close activities including reconciliations, journal entries, payroll posting, inventory accounting, and financial statements
- Oversee treasury and cash management functions (bank recs, ACH/wires, positive pay, fraud prevention)
- Manage accounts payable staff, vendor approvals, and accounting system reporting updates
- Prepare sales, use, property, and other business tax filings
- Support year‑end audit and income tax preparation, including workpapers and inventory observations
- Prepare budgets and rolling forecasts for select business segments; analyze and explain variances
- Present monthly financial results and insights to operational and senior stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 5+ years progressive accounting experience (public accounting a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GL accounting, internal controls, and fraud prevention
- Accounting systems and advanced Excel skills; SAGE experience preferred
