They are currently expanding their team and looking to add an Assistant Controller to their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to step into a key leadership role and help drive financial operations and process improvements.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$145k - $165k
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will play a critical leadership role within the Accounting and Finance team, supporting the Controller in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will manage a team of at least three accounting professionals and will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and improving accounting processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to mentor and develop staff in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:
- The Assistant Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of at least three accounting professionals.
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- The Assistant Controller will ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
- The Assistant Controller will support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within the accounting function.
- The Assistant Controller will partner with leadership across departments to support financial decision-making.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing accounting staff.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA is strongly preferred.
- Prior public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in a mid-sized or family-owned business environment.
- Background in process improvement and system optimization.
- Experience supporting audits and external reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- A CPA designation is preferred.
