- Pay Rate: $57 - $69/hr
Job Summary:
The Assistant Construction Manager will support the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and/or EPC Project Manager with day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, procurement, documentation, turnover, and field-based activities.
- Adhere to company safety programs, training, and policies while collaborating with project teams to manage Safety & Health performance
- Build and maintain client relationships and support proposal and project-related communications
- Assist in development of internal and external project risk reviews and coordinate with Legal as required
- Support development and implementation of Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Staffing Plan, and Procurement Plan
- Contribute to negotiation and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders
- Support site mobilization and demobilization planning and implementation
- Secure applicable project permits
- Prepare RFPs, assist with bidder prequalification, scope development, bid evaluation, and contract documentation
- Execute contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management, and claims mitigation
- Support cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, project setup/closeout, and field progress tracking
- Prepare and present project status reports, including risks, schedule, costs, and cash flow
- Verify subcontractor insurance, licensure, and compliance requirements
- Support safety, quality, progress, and financial audits
- Facilitate materials receiving, inventory control, storage, and transportation
- Support craft labor planning, staffing, cost analysis, labor burden monitoring, and unit rate management
- Assist with project turnover documentation, warranty tracking, and closeout processes
- Manage construction equipment inventory and utilization
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, and 3 years relevant construction experience OR applicable experience in lieu of degree
- Experience in Electric Utilities Transmission, Distribution, or Substation construction project management preferred
- Ability to travel within a 1–3 hour radius from the reporting location
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
- PMP certification or Professional Engineering (PE) designation
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software
- Experience across aviation, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, transportation, or water projects
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
