Assistant Camp Director – Residential Camp (Seasonal)

Position Summary
To assist the Camp Director in directing and overseeing all camp programs and functions in accordance with the standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Camp Association, and the New York State Department of Health.
Key Functions & Responsibilities
Partner with the Camp Director to plan and conduct pre-camp training in the Girl Scout Program, daily activity scheduling, seasonal staff supervision, and out-of-camp trips
In consultation with the Program Coordinator, guide Lead Counselors in implementing Girl Scout programs (Badges, Journeys, etc.) and in planning activities and experiences that align with campers’ abilities and interests
Coordinate and approve weekly unit schedules
Develop and maintain relationships with community resources for specialized activities
Analyze and prepare reports on camper activities and experiences based on unit leader feedback and personal observations
Act on behalf of the Camp Director in their absence
Schedule ongoing staff trainings and in-service sessions
Maintain and approve all unit schedules

Qualifications
Active Girl Scout membership required
Successful completion of a background check
Must be at least 21 years old
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a camp setting
Girl Scout experience preferred
CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods
Capable of lifting and carrying items over 15 lbs
Proficient in navigating rough terrain
Comfortable being physically active for extended durations
