Position Title:    Assistant/Associate/Professor (Sociology)

Summary:

Wilberforce University is a small, Liberal Arts University with an Entrepreneurial focus, with a legacy of being the nation’s first private HBCU. Faculty are expected to fulfill the mission and core values of the university with dedication, compliance with all university and academic area policies, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to the success of the students and the university. Broad responsibilities include teaching, research and grant writing, and service to the community. This is a face-to-face position. These appointments start in the Fall of 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching a broad range of Sociology courses.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate Sociology majors.
  • Engage in scholarly research activities which include writing grants.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in other forms of service to the university and academic community.

Required Education & Experience:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sociology, or a related discipline.  Candidates with ABDs considered but must have a conferred Ph.D. by August 1, 2026

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with Prior Teaching Experience.
