Position Description

Job Summary:

The Asphalt Skilled Laborer is vital to the continuous operation of the asphalt crew. The Asphalt Skilled Laborer is responsible for providing labor support and performs a wide variety of basic physical tasks including raking, sweeping, sawing, shoveling, and lining asphalt. The Skilled Laborer must always have a high level of alertness and knowledge of surroundings during his or her shift, as working closely with traffic occurs often.


Job Duties:

  1. Assists in pouring, smoothing, and setting of asphalt on roadways, pathways, and parking lots.
  2. Assists in raking, sweeping, and lining out asphalt on roadways and parking lots.
  3. Works safely alongside mill, paver, shuttle buggy, and screed.
  4. Assists in procuring asphalt materials, including aggregates and binder.
  5. Prepares and runs the pavement saw.
  6. Working as a Flagger to direct motorists when needed.

Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  1. Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods of time.
  2. Must be willing to work close to asphalt reaching over 300 degrees Fahrenheit during all hours of the day and all seasons of the year.
  3. Must have patience, as there may be times of waiting during production.
  4. Must be able to work weekends, night shift, and overtime when asked.
  5. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to commute to job sites.
  6. Must pass drug screen and physical.
  7. Must comply with criminal background check.
