Growing, food manufacturer hiring an Area Sales Manager for the NYC Metro area!
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Sales, ASM- NYC is responsible for opening new customers, working with local DSDs and Distributors, building relationships, selling secondary displays and points of interruption, and ensuring flawless execution of the brand for the customers in the New York City market. This territory is defined as the five boroughs of New York City and northern NJ. And this is how you'll do it...
- Develop sales plan and business strategy with the Sr. Director of Sales- Northeast & Director of Small Format.
- Translate sales plan into clear and executable goals.
- Utilize data and DSD relationships to grow distribution and SKU assortment in key customers.
- Establish, manage, and grow direct relationships with key customers through sales presentations, frequent store visits, and on-site customer support.
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives from the Director of Small Format and the Sr. Director of Sales-Northeast.
- Ensure execution of new product launches, promotions, secondary placements, and in-stock levels.
- Identify and pioneer programs within retailers to drive trial and awareness.
- Work with broker partners, distributors, and DSD Operators, and the brand's Insights team to understand and manage Distribution, Voids, In-stock Levels, Pricing/Promotion, and Display Compliance.
- Build a deep understanding of the dynamics of the territory, provide insight and direction to develop solutions to build the brand.
- Be a visible presence in market with frequent in person store calls.
Cross Functional
- Collaborate with Director of Small Format and Sr. Director of Sales- NE to execute forecast and sales plan.
- Proactively communicate with Sales Directors and Shopper Marketing to coordinate display programs, promotional programs, and proactively solve issues that create executional challenges.
- Collaborate with Category & Insights team to identify trends, competitors, and key opportunities for brand development and improved execution.
- Identify and communicate merchandising and shopper marketing programs with marketing counterparts.
- Develop and Execute promotional plans with Sales Directors and assist with back up to clear deductions.

Required Experience:
- 3+ years experience in retail sales and/or merchandising in the CPG industry.
- Established relationships and experience calling directly on key New York City customers.
- High energy self-starter
- Ability to proactively set and schedule their time in market.
- Currently working at an equivalent position within the retail food class of trade.
- Knowledge of the consumer packaged goods industry.
- Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
Must live in assigned territory and occasional event-related weekend work is required.
Budget is from $80k - 120k base dependent upon experience, bonus, EQUITY and Employer Paid Benefits!
