The application support engineer plays a key role in driving the growth and success of our automotive customer base. This position focuses on providing support, training, and demonstrations on a wide range of our products to customers. The role involves troubleshooting issues, resolving customer inquiries, and ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our robotic and software solutions. Working within the Sales and Support arm of the business, the Applications Support Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and sales personnel, to deliver exceptional customer support and contribute to customer satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned or requested.
- Work closely with automotive customer base: manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, regulatory agencies, commercial test tracks.
- Continue to develop a thorough understanding of ABD products and systems and support the learning process of other team members, especially interns and new hires.
- Provide technical support to customers via various channels regarding our robotic systems, including installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting. This includes proactive support to help eliminate future potential problems that could arise.
- Fully document any/all problems found with ABD equipment/equipment pertaining to ABD.
- Fully document customer requests for new features & improvements.
- Lead Trainer and Educator by conducting customer training sessions to enhance their understanding of robotic systems and maximise the utilization of the products and insure creation and storage of training certificates.
- Test software releases for correct operation in a simulation environment or with ABD hardware on applicable applications.
- Work with the team to implement new vehicle regulatory testing standards into products, assist customers in the use of our software and systems to meet their dynamic test requirements.
- Lead the optimisation of support contracts by engaging all system owners with relevant service offerings, managing quotations for support team activities and repairs within the IFS ERP system. Responsibilities are expected to expand within IFS as organisational capabilities grow.
- Support for ABD product implementations, delivering high-quality customer support and serving as a trusted liaison between project teams and customers.
- Communicate with prospects, customers and users for information as it relates to future equipment and capability requirements and deliver proactive action to convert the information into user needs documentation, proposals and training documents.
- Help with defining stock quantities and identify low stock items and new stock/inventory parts to ensure proper inventory is held to support customers. A focus on keeping inventory value as low as possible while being able to minimize repair time is necessary.
- Identify new inventory to be stocked and obsolete inventory to be removed as ABD defines new parts, components and revisions.
- Support the ABD Inc team in any reasonable way needed. Help others understand ABD resources, IFS, databases and other SOPs.
- Assist with shipping/receiving typically at moment’s notice. Work with the ABD Inc team to improve processes such as Incoming shipment documentation: customer name, pictures of all items, tags on cables and loose items. Creation of a record an incoming shipment to be compared against the outgoing shipment.
- Track and manage demonstration equipment. Coordinate with the sales team on the use, maintenance, and readiness of demonstration equipment. Assist in running customer demonstrations.
- Support the IFS processes including the upcoming move to a cloud-based system. Create Jira tickets for all modifications needed to make the system work for ABD.

- Experience with calibration instrumentation and documentation, especially as it pertains to ISO 17025
- Experience with motion control systems

- Travelling globally to customer sites for on-site support and delivery of training, as required, is a key expectation of this role.
