Accounts Payable Specialist


About the Organization

Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization located in Greenwich, CT, dedicated to serving the local community through impactful programs and services. They are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join their collaborative finance team.

Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, vendor payments, and expense reporting. This individual will play a key role in maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume invoices accurately and on time

  • Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation

  • Maintain vendor files and handle vendor inquiries

  • Prepare and process check runs, ACH, and wire payments

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies

  • Assist with month-end close, including AP accruals

  • Support annual audit preparation by providing the requested documentation

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and nonprofit accounting standards

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience (nonprofit experience a plus)

  • Understanding of fund accounting preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
