Job Title: Analytical Lab Technician
Location: Minneapolis, MN

Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support testing and research in our ITQ Pet laboratory. This role includes preparing samples, running lab tests, maintaining equipment, and following safety guidelines while working with scientists to improve pet food products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical testing, including sample preparation and instrumental analysis in the ITQ Pet lab.
  • Summarize results and communicate findings effectively to the ITQ Pet team, collaborating closely with ITQ Technology Scientists.
  • Manage maintenance and troubleshooting of ITQ Pet lab analytical instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support the exploration and development of new instruments to enhance pet food palatability solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab instruments.
  • Promote and uphold ITQ Pet lab safety standards and protocols.
  • Independently manage some projects, delivering results within designated timelines while collaborating with team members.
  • Build and leverage cross-ITQ and external networks to support ongoing research and development activities.
  • Clearly communicate project status and deliverables, working with ITQ scientists to adapt as needed based on business priorities.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in a scientific field with 2-3 years of industry experience, or a 4-year degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related fields.
  • Basic analytical and food chemistry testing skills, including pipetting, weighing, and grinding.
  • Ability to manually calculate and interpret analytical test results.
  • Comfortable operating and troubleshooting lab equipment in a food lab environment.
  • Basic computer and Office Suite skills.
  • Understanding of food safety and human safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
  • Effective communication skills and experience collaborating within technical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail for managing lab instrumentation and analyses.
  • (Preferred) Knowledge of analytical chemistry, familiarity with lab instrumentation such as gas chromatography, and a passion for equipment setup and modifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills across organizational levels.
