Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician specializing in Ammonia refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ammonia line openings, pump downs, and a thorough understanding of the safety protocols associated with handling this hazardous chemical. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and efficient maintenance practices, particularly on the second shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Ammonia Refrigeration Systems: Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems. Must be able to identify and respond to issues quickly and efficiently.
Line Openings & Pump Downs: Conduct safe and effective line openings and pump downs as part of routine maintenance and emergency procedures.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines related to ammonia systems, ensuring a safe working environment. Must be familiar with the smell of ammonia and the associated safety measures.
System Monitoring: Monitor system performance, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring optimal operation. Proactively identify potential issues before they escalate.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians and operators, providing guidance and support where necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Shift Work: This role requires the ability to work the 2nd shift (2 PM - 10 PM) and includes the possibility of weekend and overtime work.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems, including performing line openings and pump downs.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of HVAC systems, specifically ammonia refrigeration. HVAC experience alone is not sufficient; ammonia-specific experience is required.
Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols related to ammonia refrigeration systems.
Language: Must be fluent in English.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in environments where ammonia is present and safely handle the physical demands of the job.
