Airport Operations Intern – Airfield & Safety Compliance
Location: Dallas, TX 75235 | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $22/hour
• Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM; rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends) may be required for initial training and assignments
• Internship | W2
• Start Date: June 2026
ROLE IMPACT
This internship provides hands-on experience in Airport Operations and FAA Part 139 Safety Management System (SMS) compliance at a commercial service airport. The intern supports airfield inspections, regulatory compliance, incident documentation, and emergency coordination to ensure operational readiness and public safety. Success in this role means maintaining accurate records, supporting regulatory compliance, and contributing to a safe and efficient airport environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to customer and community inquiries, including operational questions and noise complaints
• Conduct airfield and facility inspections to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and operational standards
• Document communications and incidents; maintain accurate records and reports
• Submit and track work orders for airport maintenance; verify tenants and issue keys and security items
• Respond to alerts and emergency situations using communications software to coordinate with appropriate agencies
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Safety, or related discipline; or senior (final semester) student in an accredited aviation program
• General knowledge of airport operations principles, FAR Part 139, and TSR 1542
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to demonstrate functional English language skills per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20
