JOB DESCRIPTION: This sub family is responsible for the integration of security architecture & engineering efforts into the information technology lifecycle. Security concepts, controls, and mechanisms are integrated by employees before and during the design and architecture phases in order to produce a reliably secure product. Duties include but are not limited to; architecting, engineering, implementing, integrating, maintaining and improving systems to meet particular needs with regard to building software/hardware components and supporting technical infrastructure (includes build, test and production environments). Additional responsibilities include; technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation. Different cyber engineering specializations that align here include but are not limited to; Cloud Security, Identity & Access Management, Platform Security, Network Security and Operational Technology Security. Impact: Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results. Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function's strategy and operations. Leads and manages works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs. Complexity: Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Develops solutions that are highly innovative, and achieved through research and integration of best practices. Communication: Requires ability to communicate with executive leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project. Works to convince others to accept areas view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches. Leadership & Talent Management/Knowledge: Has in-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts and their application across range of programs. Serves as a subject matter expert within technical domain area. Typical Education & Experience: Cyber positions typically utilize a combination of certifications, education and related work experience in determining the career level; consult the Cyber Leveling Crosswalk for additional information. Positions at this career level typically require BS degree and 12 15 years of prior relevant experience in order to operate within the scope contemplated by the level.
